Just wondering how all the phasmid breeders here rear their nymphs? Pics of setup, a quick description and suitable first food would be great.

It all depends on the species, some like very moist and some quite dry. The food also, while most phasmids eat bramble, rose, oak or ivy in captivity, there are species eating only fern or eucalyptus.
As for the setup, I keep adults and nymphs both in a plastic tube (1 m tall). Under the tube there's a metal tray (be sure it's stainless), and a mesh on the top.

ok well my biggest problem now is keeping all the buggers in the tub when adding more food. Can i paint the same stuff i use to stop roaches escaping on the rim? Would it work? How do you guys stop them all running away? I have a few hundred spiny leaf insects hatched now so getting to be quite a handful

If you are from the USA there a couple of people on there who are in the same boat and want to find other breeders.
BTW the best food for maclaeys spectres which sounds like what your describing would be eucalyptus

The 3 species i have are E. tiaratum, E. goliath and A. tessulata. I'm an aussie by the way but will join up. Cheers

Never mind, mate - no one's perfect, hey? {D

Congrats on your collection! I just love the ET, and can confirm the earlier poster's advice. Eucalyptus is best. (Will make bigger females than bramble, etc)

You have any Eucalypts in Aussie...??:D

I think vaseline would work for phasmids, too.
I have Peruphasma schultei, and facing the same problem, they breed like crazy!
