Hey all,

take a look, what my little unidentified ctenid from Peru built me over the last weekend:

No hopes here, that this thing is fertile, as the lady did her maturation molt while already in my posession and i wasn´t able to find her a male.
Nevertheless, quite interesting to watch her care for that thing. :D

Greetings,

Stefan

Hey you two,

thanks for your appreciation!

Yeah the lady is indeed a beauty, though she´s quite small: just 2cm (not even a full inch) body-length.

By temperament she´s quite a nasty lil girl, much worse than any Phoneutria. While those show you when they´re in a bad mood, this one don´t. She just attacks, without prior warnings, on two different occassions it was pure luck i didn´t get tagged!

So the sac has one advantage for me: Madame is so occupied with guarding it, it´s way easier now to do maintenance duties or take pics. :D

Greetings,

Stefan

I thought I had seen all of Peru's Ctenids Stefan, but I'm sure I have not seen that one before. She is very striking. Photos up to your usual high standard as always!

There is a Purple Ctenid, very common in Peru that make a quite different eggsack (fixed rather than mobile) photo attached
