Counting the teeth can often help.
Don't use plastic. Get a glass beaker laboratory style and a fist full of cotton.
Put scorpion in the beaker, cotton on top of scorpion with light pressure on the cotton, then turn the beaker upside down and count the teeth.
Or make a picture using a macro lens of it, that way to count them at your own leisure.
I have also heard stories of people putting scorpion on the glass bed of a document scanner, but i have not tried that myself yet.

I use the clear container with a cotton. Cushion to hold them in place. Generally yes males have a wider and longer set of teeth than females do. But its not accurate enough at this instar

I'm guessing it could be female... thinner looking hands (pedipalps - males appear to have thicker hands) and a chunky monkey body plus that gap between and forward of its pectines is wide... however I'm no expert on this.

0111201837f.jpg I'm pretty sure this is a female but I can't be quite positive yet.
0111201838b.jpg Here you can see on the other scorpion, the Pectines are further apart, which leads me to believe that this is a male.
