Hello everyone! I am considering purchasing some isopods soon, and I was thinking about which species to get. I saw some isopods called "Party Mix" isopods, and I was wondering what exactly they were. I read that they're apparently a mix of isopods or something? If they're different species, is it safe to mix them? Or are they the same species but different color morphs?

Thanks!

Though the term is NOT really standardized, it is most commonly used for various morphs of Porcellionides pruinosus. When that is the case, they are all the same species and capable of interbreeding. I have P. pruinosus’Party Mix’, which has powder blues. oranges, whiteouts, Oreo crumbles, and orange creams, as well as some other unusual individuals. They make for a colorful, varied, and active mix.

just keep in mind that the term since it isn’t standard, could well be referring to a mix of species, or a mix iof morphs of another species.

True. I've also seen it for P. scaber mixes. But yes, not a standardized term.

These will be different colour morphs of the same species.

Just think of it as Skittles party mix. Same candies, but different flavors.
