I have a Parabuthus Raudus on the way and this is what I decided to go for substrate wise.
Although unconventional I decided to have 40% of the tank mainly fine aggregate and sand with a splash of clay. While 60% of the tank is a consistent mixture of soil, Clay, sand, & courser aggregate.
I’ve read the Kalahari desert is mostly loose sands, up to 95% of it. but this specific scorpion has been known to burrow around in the other 5%~ if I’m correct. So I figured why not give it the option of loosely compacted sands and rocks, while also having access to a firmer substrate that permits burrowing?
I don’t plan to keep it as moist as it is in the picture. I just got done homogenizing the clay and needed to add some water.
what do y’all think? Any criticism before it gets here?
