Does anybody on here keep pet chameleons? In particular panthers? I live in Australia so its illegal for us to keep any exotics but I love love LOVE chameleons, and would do anything to own one! Arrgh..

Anyway, if you do own a chameleon (doesn't matter what sort) please post up pictures of it and its enclosure.. How are they as pets? Tell me what you think!

Cheers guys

i am getting a pair within a week but i have my set up and i found a great care sheet on chameleons. from everything i have read and everyone i have talked to they are super great pets!!!! Panthers live about five years or less. they are more colorful and are hard to breed. you can buy them from anywhere between 300 and a thousand or so dollars. they are very sensative and require more care compared to a Veiled. I could talk cahmeleon all day so if you have any questions ill do my best to answer them :)

Ok I'll bite, here's my boy....his name is "Bling".

Panthers are great...he's my only one but I've had him for almost 3 years, I'm afraid he'll be leaving us soon as he's starting to "slow down" a bit this summer with feeding and basking. His setup is simple, a 2x2x4 screen cage with 2 large plants in it. He feeds daily on various insects that I place in a tall deli container in his cage. I keep a 150w bulb on him through most of the winter and now during the summer he stays outside enjoying the rays and lots of lots of rain this spring.

It's a shame you can't get these guys in Oz but I don't feel bad for you as you've got plenty of other cool stuff to play with. I would personally go looking for a Moloch!

:)

We do have lots of great stuff here, but only great Australian stuff... He is beautiful mate, awesome stuff... I am definitely moving to Britain when I finish my vet degree and getting all sorts of cool pets, one of these included!

Thank you sir. When you finally get one I hope it's all you hope. They are really incredible animals with short life spans being the only major drawback.

Your panther looks fantastic and I would expect him to live to be 6 or 7.
It's obvious you're caring for him well and this is not an unreasonable age to achieve now.
