Hi guys,

I haven't had much experience with pairings at this point so do you guys have any tips on pairing Eratigena atrica? There's another important question I have but even if this means I shouldn't pair them I would still really appreciate advice on pairing these guys as I might still find a couple more and I will also hopefully try pairing again next fall. So the female was already gravid and laid an egg sac in my care and I think she laid others too before I caught her. She's seems to be more a normal size now so I don't think she's going to lay any more sacs. My question is, is it okay to pair them if she already laid a couple sacs this year?

Also, do the males often get munched with this species? I really love my male. I've been raising him since a very small juvie. Any suggestions on how to not let him get munched?

Bonus question: I have a couple of Agelenopsis and the male only has one pedipalp. Can it still be a successful pairing with just one pedipalp?

Thanks for your time on this guys.

Erategena pairing is easy as pie if the lady is well fed she will be really gentle with the male and they will cohabit happily with the female feeding the male when he is to weak to do it by himself

With that said female spiders can store sperm for month and she's probably just taking a break from motherhood

I've heard agelenopsis are slightly less accepting to partners so a one palped male may not go down well but it's worth a shot as a male would prefer to die at the jaws of a female than at the jaws of time
But in theory it is entirely and totally possible

This is helpful, thanks!

Her last sac hatched on or before Sep 11.

Very
glad to hear that they do well together. Does this also hold true if the male is sitting on the web with her? It sounds like it would.

I'll try and keep my eyes open for another girl. I do find them wandering to find water a lot and sometimes outside too so I might be able to get ahold of one.
