one of my friends found this guy and gave it to me, he was found frozen outside in an aquarium, there was 2 of them, one didnt make it, but this guy did and now he eats about 10 crickets a day, but i limit him to 2 or 3 crix.

Painted turtles bring back memories of being 6 for me. Other than garter snakes and common toads, painted turtles were the first herps I ever kept.

I bought one, adult sized for my mother approximately seventeen years ago.
He is still living- he loves to eat guppies and minnows and frozen brine shrimp...I dont know if she has ever fed him a cricket.
The older they get the more vegetarian they become so she keeps seaweed and kale in the tank with him now.He likes that too.
Good job on saving the turtle, too bad someone cant freeze the people who did that to him in a block of ice.
