My pacman frog isn't eating. I don't know why. It's kind of atypical of him.

He normally eats a mouse once a month. The mouse normally doesn't last 5 minutes.

Yesterday, I had the mouse in the cage for about two hours and nothing happened.

Today, I put the mouse in the cage for an hour. I tried killing the mouse to see if he would have suddenly preferred pre-killed. Nothing.

He's perfectly healthy. No sign of redleg or anything similar. I've fallen behind on substrate changes so I'm going to do that this week. I haven't had a heat light on him for the past month because I haven't had time to do that.

I'm going to try again tomorrow with a goldfish and then a pinkie.

Any suggestions?

How old is he. when mine got older he would often skip feedings. has he gotten godfish in the past. i stopped feeding mine goldfish because they were loaded with parasites that he wound up contracting.

He's a year old.

He hasn't eaten since early November but I'm not too worried because he still seems healthy and fat.

Off to bury the mouse. :(

I don't have a problem with prekilling prey (myself), but when it goes to waste I feel really bad about it.

If he hasn't had a heat source then could be that the previous meal caused a blockage in his digestive tract. I wouldn't suggest a diet solely of mice. Rodents are high in fats and covered in fur which amphibians simply aren't designed to take in regularly. I know this is a mouth with eyes we're talking about but I'd still give him a much simpler diet. Stick to feeding him insects and other amphibians. Don't swear off of mice but don't make them the staple. If it's been over a month since he ate then I do agree with your worry and think that something is definitly up. Try setting up a warm icu for him and watching him for a couple of days. I don't mean to sound like a prick but cleanliness is crucial for amphibians. Their skin is just so permeable that they quickly "tox out" on their own waste products. Sorry if I've given offense but I'm really only trying to help.

I agree about the mice, mammals have way too much fat and that can lead to liver disease. I've had pac man before and they did great on crickets, roaches and silkworms. Warm him up and try feeding some bugs.

He doesn't notice crickets, but I'll try those again.

I'm starting a roach colony for him. Hope to get it up and running soon.
