I am wondering if anyone has witnessed P. scaber individuals being aggressive. A few nights ago I witnessed several individuals in my orange P. scaber colony violently attacking another, the attack did not even stop when i shined a light on them. When I finally got the attackers off the victim, it had been partially eaten.

Any insight would be appreciated, I am wondering if the aggression could be a sign that they need more protein in their diet?

Thanks

Cannibalism is an infrequent but established behavior in Porcellio scaber, and a variety of environmental factors can influence aggression and cannibalism. Higher humidity, more cover, lower density, and greater availability of food resources definitely reduce the incidence, but it does tend to occur regardless on a small scale.
