I have a female P. regalis who keeps knocking one or more of her legs on the side of the tank. It's almost as if she has something on it and is trying to FLICK it off or it is itching her. I can't see anything on it (although it is hard to really get a good look) and I cleaned the tank a couple of times but she still does it. Has anyone had this problem before or does anyone know what is going on here? Thanks.

I'd say, your spider is just going about it's day. Doing its thing, so to speak. I think we, as keepers of the T's, try to interpret their actions a little to much. I'm not saying thats a bad thing, it helps us to understand them better. I'm just saying that our interpertations seem to run on the, " is there something wrong " side of it. I know thats how I use to view new actions I'd observe.

Anyway, I hope theres nothing wrong with your girl...;)
Maybe she's trying to tell you not to clean her tank so much.. ;P

Which leg seems to be irritated? Wouldn't be a fourth leg by chance would it? I'm asking because of something I observed once with an adult P. regalis I had kept. Out of the blue she began to constantly rub leg four on the left side vigorously and I realized soon enough that there was some kind of open sore on her abdomen, where the leg had either caused a wound or she was trying to pacify or "itch" her wound with her leg...if that makes sense. I tried to seal the wound with new skin but it didn't work and she died within 48 hours of when we first discovered the problem. The injury itself was impossible to miss and I'm sure if your regalis had the same infliction you would have surely noticed.

Good luck with your T.

I think it's the second leg but I cannot tell for sure because everytime I get close enough to see she stops. I was thinking there might be a parasite on the leg or something causing it to itch or be discomforting. Thanks.

*whew* That's good to know. Just keep a close eye on her. Spiders do lots of unexplainable things and soon after you notice, they go back to being "normal". LOL
Good luck again.

I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think she's drumming.
