Are these rarer than the RCF? I had never seen or even heard of a non-orange OBT until a few weeks ago, but then bought a TCF sling. Every pic I seem to see of P. murinus is an orange one. How many people have the tan version?

Also I read that the TCF grows larger than the RCF, can anyone confirm this? (Would be quite cool if it's true. Having a 5 or 6 inch ball of fury instead of 4" would make up for the less exciting colour scheme {D ) If it is true, are there any other differences such as in care requirements? So far my guy (Mo) seems like a regular OBT (except he's a BBT) - webs like crazy, eats like a pig, fast as hell - but he's only <1".

My last OBT died a mature male last September and I didn't realise how much I missed him till I got Mo. It's nice to have the devil incarnate as a spider again {D

I've been wondering about that. IS there a difference between P murinus TCF and P lugardi or not? If so, what is the difference?

Either way, I like my OBT's and i wouldn't mind getting some other Pterinochili to supplement my gang.

Our big lugardi girl is an utter pet hole. Never see her.
Our chordata is an out-loud-demon-from-hell. We absolutely love him. {D

I managed to find this site which has pictures of some P. murinus TCF (wish I could read German tho, lol), and well, they do look just like OBTs but more goldy/brown than orange.

Every pic I've seen of P. lugardi show those distinctive spots on the abdomen (an example). I know P. murinus get abdomen patterns as well, but I think the 'P. murinus TCF' does look more like a murinus than a lugardi. It's just hard to find pictures of the TCF rather than the orange form.

EDIT:- of course if the P. murinus TCF is in fact really P. lugardi, that would explain why it's hard to find pictures of them :p

In fact looking at the pics from that german board, and then at this thread I'm pretty convinced the TCF spiders are murinus and not lugardi. Totally different carapace colours.

Those definitely look like obt's...
P.lugardi looks completely different.
I was reading something awhile back; either the T. keeper's guide or maybe one of the older ATS periodicals...but I read that they were finding slightly different colors on the P.murinus, in their home range. It just depended on what portion of their home range they were collected at. Maybe this is what we're seeing in these links? It would interesting to know for sure...:)

The abdomenal markings are different too.
