I'm confused on how to set up a terrarium for a P. murinus.

Do you need one taller than wider, or wider and shorter?

Basically, anything will work. Just provide a hide and dry sub. It's a small spider and has very economic space requirements.

Yep.

I go for a deep enclosure with a little less substrate than I'd put in a fossorials enclosure. Mine are animal cracker containers from Costco (big warehouse store). They're about 16" tall and I put about 8-10" of 'strate in there. I put the appropriate furniture in there if they decide to climb and a starter burrow if they decide to go deep.

Most of mine just web up the whole thing and live on the surface, but I set the containers up that way just in case they change their minds.:D

Oh, don't get me wrong, they're never happy. They're just equally angry and evil regardless of habitat.:D

My first one did the exact opposite that I prepared its enclosure for.... The first time, I set it up terrestrial... and it promptly climbed into the plants and stayed on the ceiling.

Then, I changed it to arboreal... and it started digging a tunnel! Talk about infuriating.

If you have any way to do what Mikey said, you'll be much happier than I was!!! LOL.

I put my 5 slings (.75" -1") into a group enclosure a couple weeks back. Vermiculite substrate (lower maintenance since I'm less likely to pick out mold), some silk plants, primarily "arboreal" setup.

3 of the 5 have built webs up near the roof to hang out in. 2 of them burrowed into the substrate. I think they'll deal with whatever you give them.

My big boys are in a tank 8"x8"x8" with substrate 2/3 from the bottom. Problem is, they tend to web to the lid, so go higher if possible.

As you will have realised, Orange Bitey Things tend to do what they want, anyhow! {D

Yea... I usually set a cricket keeper on its side. So the opening is on the side. They wont web that, just the top or bottom=) easy access...

I have used an aboreal type enclosure. Put lil subs and my boy just spun from the bottowm to the top. And has almost outgrown it in the 2 months I've had him. Then my other one setup the same has just made a small webbed burrow in the one corner. Strange.

Sounds like they're about as picky as...me, at an all-you-can-eat buffet (i.e. not at all). :D
