ok does anyone here have these? I was thinking of getting one, but before I fork up that kind of money I want to see what you guys think of them. are they worth 150 or should I just get a regalis or something.
To be honest, (and this is just one guy's opinion) P. rufilata, fasciata, regalis, formosa and especially ornata and subfusca are far nicer looking and cheaper. I think the miranda is a great sp. but I'm holding out til the "hype" loses it's grip on their price. I'd suggest going for another Poke sp., get the hang of keeping them for a year or so, by then the price of mirandas should be much easier on the pocketbook. Mirandas are going to be established in this hobby in great numbers, don't worry. It's just a matter of hangin' in there until this happens.
Well, depends on what you like about them. If you're into the bright yellow underside etc. then I'd recommend fasciata or ornata. Both of mine are usually pretty easy to see a lot of the time. If you like high contrasting black and white, formosa or regalis are really nice looking like that. Rufilata has a nice reddish hue to it's pattern.
Overall, ornata is pretty much my favorite, commonly available pokie. They have all kinds of awesome color. Very bright yellow, bright red setae fringing the entire T, especially around the chelicerae and palps, and even an intense irridescence on the scopulae really set these T's off. Plus they are among the largest of the pokies as well.
Have a look at some of these images to see what you like...
I have P regalis, P ornata, P formosa, and P fasciata.
I want to get them all eventually, but for me, subfusca is my fave...price on those is a bit on the high side as well!
They are all beautiful in their own way, but I can't see shelling out $150 for the miranda....maybe if I was rich, but I'm not, and I don't think they are any more stunning then the others.
I agree about the P. subfusca Holley. They're incredible but they are a bit pricey although not as bad as miranda. Subfusca is the nest pokie on my list for sure.
