Sounds like me as a child. I was always chasing after bugs while my peers were playing with Barbies. It's great that your daughter's being raised in an environment where an interest in spiders is encouraged! My daughter likes them too much. I was also out chasing bugs One day I saw what looked like a large red fuzzy ant that seemed to be squeeking, so I decided to pick it up. I figured if I picked up right it couldn't bite me.Sounds like me as a child. I was always chasing after bugs while my peers were playing with Barbies. Glad you like the little Avic, by the way. He is ludicrously cute, though the P. irminia and P. metallica aren't far behind.
I didn't even know these things existed until a couple of months ago when a coworker brought in a dead one that he found in his barn. They are cute for being wasps. That day was the only day I had a bug catching incident, for it was the day that I learned that a velvet ant can sting you.
Which Cyriocosmus is this? Not enough heartbutt to be elegans?
Exactlylooks like C. ritae
