My juvenile P.auratus that I got today climbed to the very top of the enclosure and is now there chilling upside down after I set up its enclosure, even though I have filled half of the depth of the tank in substrate. Why is it exhibiting this behaviour even though it’s a terrestrial species?

let it settle down

without a picture of the enclosure its really impossible to even guess, it may just be exploring

Definitely need a picture to answer that question more detailed, but tarantulas usually take a few days to settle in. They are small, can’t see well and have been put in a foreign environment. Their safest bet is to hold very, very still until they feel safe to move about and explore. I put mine in a dark, quiet room after a rehouse to get settled.

How large is spider and how much space between substrate to where he's chilling on top? As long as it's not too large of a distance there's no reason to worry for his safety. Just settling in to his new home. Some settle in within 24hrs and some take weeks.

1. I’ve noticed my Cuban gold juvenile, after having been previously chilling upside down on the enclosure, has now buried itself head first into the substrate with only its abdomen exposed. What does this mean?

2. I noticed my A.geniculata and L.parahybana (both juveniles) eat a black cricket everyday and seem to have crazy appetites. Is this normal to feed them daily?

I’ve attached pics in their respective order.

1. Normal
2. Yes they eat well but don’t feed everyday. That’s too much
