Right now as I type this our very first corn snake eggs are being laid.
The mom is a lavender with possible unknown hets, and the dad is a hypo lavender motley.
I can't wait to see how many eggs we get!!!!!

Congrats! I've been looking into getting a corn as a first snake but I won't hijack your thread. I just needed to fill out this post.

That is okay, corns are a great first snake. They are easy to care for, generally docile, and come in a wide choice of colors. You can get just about any color except black, green, and blue.

Don't know about that...I had an Anery that had almost no silver on her, to the point where she honestly looked like one of the Black Rat Snakes we have here. I also had a Snow with light GREEN blotches; they were light, but they were definitely green, not yellow. I've seen a snake at a show which combined the Patternless morph with Anerethristic, and although it was a baby, I will just about guarantee by the time that Corn was an adult, it would have been jet-black with a white belly. Haven't seen a blue one yet, though, but give the Corn breeders enough time, and I would not be surprised if we don't see those in a few years, too. The potential with those snakes is still wide-open. But they are great little animals, wonderful first-time snakes.

The variety of (inexpensive) morphs that have been mentioned is one of the reasons that has me interested in them. Can't wait to see some pictures!

now the fun begins, determining genetics, I have had to breed as many as 5 seasons to get all the hets straight on a single specimien.

Update.....

The babies started hatching on June 17!! We ended up with 12 babies, and they are super cute!!!! (I will post pictures as soon as the hubby gets home) They have now all shed and have been offered their first meal, 9 out of 12 ate. I'm having a hard time telling if we got any hypos or not, I think its possible but I'm going to have my snake guru look at them this weekend to be sure.

I would have LOVED to see that anery of yours!!!!!!!! That must have been quite a stunning baby!!!!!
Actually, my snow does glow green in certain lights, and I was told that any green or pink on a snow makes them a bubble gum snow.
Hmmmm, patternless and anery, now that sounds interesting. I'd like to see that animal as a full grown adult.
I'm sure that given enough time corn snake breeders will figure out how to get black, blue, green and just about any other color they are after. From what I understand though they are trying to do it without interbreeding them to rat snakes, which do have some of the colors they are after.
I just found out about a new (or at least new to me) corn snake morph. Its called strawberry, it can make an anery have pink patches. I thought that sounded so neat!!!!!
