I noticed that too, but i don't think too many blondi (atleast from what i have experienced) dig their own burrows, so i think a hide is a good idea. I have that same hide in my Kingsnakes cage.

I have two questions.

1. Is that substrate wet? blondi like is nice and dry.
2. What size aquarium is that?

That day the picture was taken, the substrate was wet due to the water dish spilling plus we just misted the aquarium. The substrate is all nice and dry now.
The aquarium is a 30 gallon tank.
Does she need more substrate in their? She doesnt burrow very much, though the other day she was digging a little bit in her hide.

I thought it was a 30. I have an empty 30 just sitting here, i was thinking about putting my blondi in it. or i just may split it into like 3 or 4 tanks, to save some room. I would put maybe 4 to 5 inches just incase she wants to dig.

Theraposas like it 'nice and dry'? I was under the impression that those were among the relatively few spiders in the hobby that actually needed it to be kind of humid?

both my blondi are in bone dry substrate, and they are both eating fine, and i haven't had any problems with molts. Talk to some more people on the boards that have a blondi you will find that most of them keep their blondi substrate dry. (atleast from what i have heard from others who i have talked about this with.)

100gal. setup for a blondi? thats alittle too much in my book, unless you were going to try a communal tank, and i don't think a communal blondi tank would be a very good idea IMO.

There is a debate between keeping T. blondi dry or moist. Success has been shown with both to some degrees. I believe that it has been said several times that T. blondi does fine in a lower humidity.

In the wild, T. blondi takes over abandoned burrows of small mammals. It does not dig its own burrow. Provide a hide and a water dish and it'll be fine. Deeper substrate may provide more of padding if it happened to climb and fall, though.

I agree 100% becca. I don't really need deep substrate in mine, my female is too heavy to climb. :D

I have the sudden urge to relocate my blondi in the 30gal. hmmmm....

How many Ts you have? do you have the room to devote a 100gal tank to a T that will prolly max out at 10"?

I wouldn't waist the money on the terrarium. Just use a big rubbermaid container. If your gonna keep many T's rubbermaid is much cheaper and you can find them in many sizes. :D
