Oregon move, tarantula disaster

Hey All-

Been away from the site for a while due to some severe dejection :(

If anyone recalls, I put up a post in early February about my family moving from New York to Oregon. We had a bit of a disaster when the rental truck broke down in the middle of a below zero night in rural PA. Events unfolded that required me to rush my wife, my infant son and my dogs to a motel to keep them all from freezing to death. By the time I got moving again, my entire T collection froze in the cab of the truck while the rental company kept telling me "I'd be rolling again in no time". I lost everything. T's I'd had for years, and T's I'd raised from babies. Close to 30 in all, plus all of my feeder roaches.

Before anyone asks BTW. I made every effort to save them, and tried unsuccessfully to get compensated from the trucking company. I'm feeling bad enough so keep the flamethrowers down in the watering hole.

Anyway, everything else about the move went great and we are loving life in Eugene Oregon. If anyone in this area currently has T's or Dubia for sale, feel free to PM me. I'm not looking for charity. I just am ready to start rebuilding slowly and want to see what's available around here before I start getting things shipped. I do have a baby so I'm temporarily staying away from T's with more dangerous bites like Pokies, Baboons and such. I'd be interested in just about anything else.

Good to hear that your family is ok and all are doing well..
As for your T's... sorry to hear that they all perished.
I'm sure sooner rather than later, your collection will be up and running again :)

The fun part in our hobby is collecting them one by one. Enjoy!

I'm glad you and your family are OK and resettled in Oregon. Although I'm sorry for your loss, the Ts can be replaced. The big picture is way more important.

What sweet words, I too believe my Ts that passed are in a good place.

:( So very sorry for your loss. It happens to all of us no matter how hard we try. I would offer you a baby OBT but understand about your own baby, so I'll send some good luck that deals and Ts abound for you.

Sorry for your loss Scott! The biggest show with tarantulas for sale is coming up next month. You should check it out. A lot of people in town show up. It happens twice a year at the same place in Hillsboro.

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for all of the kind replies and PM's. As bad as losing them was, it's good to know that this is still a great place.

Lori- The family and I will definitely check out the expo. The little guy is already just like his parents. he loves looking at fish and critters of all kinds.

Thanks again to all!

when I lived in Oakridge I noticed some scorps between there and Eugene up one of the dry riverbeds on the north side and newts around in the creek edges on the south side. Not T's but...
Rev
BTW there are some hotsprings just off the road a few miles east of Oakridge and velveeta cheese works great on the trout in the reservoir by the dam just east of Oakridge as well lol

I lost my T. Blondi and it was my fault.
