any idea what they could be?the first one is about 4cm body length, second is 0.5cm

You're right, H. Batesi is an amazonian specie. I didnt know Orchid Island was in Asia, we learn every day!! I've actually read a really nice article on the general amblypygids in Fauna, Volume 1;Number 2, 1997, if anyone's interested!!

why not another guess?
BTW Orchid island back home is an really interesting place
since Taiwan is rite at the line of sub-tropical and tropical, u can find most tropical animals on OI
suchs as the Yamia wantasei, coconut crab, and other tropical animals which can't be found in Taiwan

my fd told me that he hasnn't found any of these yet, probably the season or some other resons
they are rare to see in Orchid Island, and p[robably don't exist on Taiwan main Island, but somebody have found a dead one in the cave of the main island
They can be found troughout Asian pacific region from Southern Japanese islands to Australia, i've seen several dried speciment list under the same names from Indonesia and Java

but if they are so widely distrubuted, why they are not like those Damon sp regularly offered on the market yet?
