I have an orb weaver...cat faced, that I brought home before the first freeze of winter, and added her to my t collection. My thought was keep her warm thru winter and release back in spring to where I took her from, which was my work place. She had kinda become our mascot there. Anyway...has been doing really well last few weeks, webbing, eating, etc etc. So well in fact that she has, now, a sizeable egg sac that she seems pretty proud of. I've had a widow before that had several egg sacs, and I just removed them and let them hatch and released outside, but that was in AZ, where it's nice and toasty all the time. Does anybody have any ideas or opinions on how to keep roughly 100 to 300 spiderlings warm and safe through winter in a very very cold place,

I’d think if it hatched outside they will hibernate until warmer weather. Just my guess .

Idk about orbs where you are but once ours lay a sac they will keep them safe over winter and the sac will hatch in spring ... unfortunately mum doesn't usually get to see that ☹. Keep her and the sac safe, the slings will huddle together till they are ready to disperse then they will climb up as high as they can and balloon to find their own place in the world.
Personally I would keep the sac safe over winter with mum of course, then once the baby's hatch and try to balloon take them bk to where you got mum n let them. If mum was there they will be established there for breeding partners in the future.

This info is for cross orbs but I should imagine it translates to cat orbs . @NMTs you are good with orbs, do you know specifics of this sp or have anything to add I have missed?
