I'm probably going to get an orange baboon tarantula and was wondering if there are any special requirements. I know they are an aggressive species. They are only £4.99(8.05 dollars) at my local pet store. Is this cheap? The one there is tiny, so cute. Another option I am considering is a mexican fire leg.

You should provide them with the possibility to be a burrower, terrestrial and arboreal.
Individuals in this species vary a lot when it comes to the setup.

I've seen them for sale for 2,50 euros each.

If this is your first tarantula, I suggest getting the Brachypelma boehmei (Mexican Fire Leg) instead.

It would be the third tarantula I have owned. What's the venom of the OBT like?
Very painful. You do not want to get bitten, especially by an adult. It's a day you'll never forget.

They like fairly dry substrate and good ventilation. They're very hardy animals. The slings are timid, but by 2" DLS they have color and attitudes. Give it a piece of cork bark to hide under, and it'll be less likley to try to run out of it's cage.

If you're not up to fast, confrontational species yet, go for the Brachypelma. Also hardy, but much easier to work with.

Yeah that's kinda put me off it. What about the mexican fire leg bite?
Mild. Much less likely to occur, and it's much less likely to race out of the cage. It's really a good idea to work your way up to the advanced species in stages, no shame in that. P murinus grow very fast, and will be in the fiesty stage before you know it. Males can mature in 12 months.

Just beginner species like rose hair and mexican red knee. I'm not that experienced with tarantulas but have lots of other reptiles, amphibians and inverts some of which need a lot more attention and care than tarantulas.

The care is nothing to worry about, it's the speed and venom you've gotta watch out for with old worlds.

I rehoused my commune of 4 tcf yesterday and 3 were just dashing like lightning (and I mean REALLY fast) and the last one just stood there striking, they are only an inch maximum, bless it

I rehoused some of my huntsman spiders yesterday and was able to catch them while they were running.

Am I superman?
