I recently obtained 16 juvenile Armadillidium vulgare 'Orange Vigor'! I am really excited about them, they are quite stunning. In this video I unbox them, and I included some close ups in the middle and end of the video so you can get an idea of how stunning they are.

I now keep 17 different species/morphs of isopods, and I am sure my collection will continue to expand!

I've been waiting for some time to get my hands on these. Congrats, so beautiful. I love everything orange. I have some orange-ish isopods (they're either Armadillidium or Venezillo) I've been trying to breed to be this orange, they're not quite as stunning as these!

Thanks! Have you seen Alan Grosse's collection of orange isopod species/morphs? ( His site is called Captive Isopoda) He has several strains of orange Armadillidium vulgare, as well as other orange morphs, and some naturally occurring orange species, like Porcellio magnificus! They definitely live up to their name!

They’re lovely! Congrats! :) Are you still working on a yellow morph of these (like the jewel featured in your avatar)? I had a large number is A. vulgare over a year ago now and was working on isolating some lovely morphs but for some reason all of my colonies crashed — wild-type too. :( I have no idea why; my A. maculatum have meanwhile thrived and multiplied.

Congratulations again! You should make a photo thread of your collection! :D

Thank you! I am still working on the population descended from my avatar, and lately, a few quite promising individuals are showing up in the 3rd/4th generation! They are young, and may well look different as adults, but I'm hopeful. I attached a picture of one that shows some pretty heavy patterning. Sorry to hear about your colony...I had that happen to my first dwarf striped Isopods. :(
I do have an older photo thread of my collection somewhere on here...but I like you idea. An update of some kind is definitely in order. :D

Looks like they're coming along nicely. I have been constantly lurking on captiveisopoda for awhile now. I'm not quite sure if I want to go for magnificus just yet, I'm slowly building up my cultures and making sure I have things set for the long run; I've been at it since the beginning of the year so far. Maybe around the year mark I might feel ready. My current project, aside from some orange-ish rollies is some white-ish P. laevis I found. I think I can get them ghost white in time and maybe some dalmatian too.

Wow, so many isopods and in such stunning colors! :astonished: I will have to get some of those stock someday and Armadillidium sp. 'Montenegro' too as it would be need to have the species of isopod most closely resembling my Glomeris pustulata pillipedes! :D

I've heard some of the Spanish isopods can be challenging, I can't blame you for holding off until you're ready.

I love the Dalmatian P. laevis...the orange ones are nice too...something about their shiny carapace makes the colors and patterns look cleaner than they do on P. scaber. Best of luck isolating those morphs!

'Montenegro' is likely to be the next species I acquire...they are amazing!
You have Glomeris pustulata?! Awesome! I love pillipedes. Are they breeding for you?

They are beautiful little creatures! I bought several of them from @Elytra and Antenna last year and I think they’re just now reaching maturity. I will be thrilled if they give me pedelings and would certainly post it on the forum! :astonished:
