Evening

I have a spare fish tank here that has a lid, but it doesn’t fully cover the top. Theres about 10mm gap around the edges on where the lid sits in the four corners.

Any good pet suggestions that can’t fly or climb and doesn’t require too much humidity as the enclosure won’t be fully sealed?

Many thanks! 🙂

Does the top of the tank have a lip around it? If so, I'd custom cut a piece of acrylic to fit.

The previous response of death feigning beetles aren't a bad idea! Personally, I really enjoy keeping a small colony of adult Zophobas morio in a display tank. Pretty beetles, and active too. If beetles aren't your thing, you might consider some sort of millipede. They can't walk on glass but a large enough one might be able to reach the top of the enclosure... so you'd want a smaller species, I think.

I keep mealworms as feeder, but they could make good pets. I’ll probably keep breeding them.

Perhaps something native to your area in case of an escape? Even poor climbers can often manage a way up the silicone once in a while.

Perhaps your local isopods would be fun.

What about making a lid with one of those DIY window screen kits? Pretty sure you have to buy the mesh separate but that would allow you to get something safe for your critters.
