"Attention Bill 136, PAWS act
Good morning all,
I am here bringing a bad news/good news situation.
For those of you that do not know, the province is implementing an Animal Protection bill to offset the recent refusal of the OSPCA, and other similar factions, to enforce against crimes regarding animal welfare.
What came unexpected was the province implementing a PROVINCE WIDE regulation of animals.
This means there will be a list of prohibited animals for the province of Ontario and those provisions will overrule municipal bylaws.
The proposed Bill 136 clearly states that “Any animal considered to be to dangerous or difficult to keep will be considered as prohibited”
For those if you that have been around for a while, you know what these “Blanketed Terms” translate too.
I have attached a couple screenshots but I recommend ALL of you read and get on your local MPP immediately. The bill is already in “second readings” and time is limited before they propose an uneducated and ridiculous set of standard that will debilitate our great community in Ontario.
The good news? We are able to work as a collective voice within the province on this matter. Prior to this, it was all restricted to municipal matters and our voices were divided as Ontario keepers as a whole.
However, because this matter effects us ALL, they now need to consider the potential opinions of thousands of Ontario's keepers.
Do your research, keep your cool and let your local MPP know how many of us there are and how our scaly friends, big and small, contribute to our everyday lives."
