Well the Ceratogyrus brachycephalus went well (they did not waste any time!) but the Nhandu chromatus pairing.........the female was not in the mood to be courted! At least the male escaped without a mark on him.

Great videos.. is this typical of chromatus in your experience? My big female is molting right now as I type this. I was hoping to breed her before too long.

I have no idea. I have never bred them before.
But I'll try again once I see a sperm web. She is eating another couple roaches now, so we will see if her mood changes. She is about 3 weeks past her last molt.

Interesting... I am curious to see how it turns out. I wonder if the tongs affected her mood at all. My girl really doesnt like tongs... good luck...

I almost always touch the female with tongs to get a feel for their mood. When a male is drumming his heart out like that and the female is not moving most of the time her first reaction is going to be a VERY quick spin move on the male to kill him. But I find that if I gently touch them like that they do the spin move on my tweezers most of the time, and sometimes like in this case they just do a slow turn. The movement by her helps the male key in on her too. You can see him really start drumming once she moves.
Just my method. Not THE method. :)

Ah, well I see it has worked for you in the past... ;) I tried that with my scrofas and all I got was threat poses for an hour or so. I used a paint brush tho.

Nice vids Ryan!!!

My female chromatus wanted nothing to do with the MM....After roughly 3 hours of relentless "convincing", she agreed.......Now, months later, I have roughly 900 1st instars!!!!!!

The H macs are one of my favorites....Good Luck!!!!
