at the moment she is being a little stubborn by protesting her new substrate. i guess it looks a little on the damp side... anyhow, she is my oldest spider, had her at least 10 years. last month was her first molt in 4-5 years. nothing real special about the setup, just basic.

Basic? That's a gorgeous enclosure set up. MINE are basic, and boring. Nice job :)

Awww...she looks so sweet! Glad to hear it's been 10 years and she is still going strong. Nice set-up!

I have a WC rosie that is probably nearing double digits. How long was your 10 yr old in pre-molt? Mine hasn't eaten in 2 months and I know she can go a lot longer. Just curious what to expect.....

what if you just push her off the log? lol Those rose hairs sure are odd ones. Mine runs around with it s butt up in the air, guess it thinks its a scorpion.

ive shoved her off that log a few times now, she just goes back. its very hard because she just goes in circles instead of off the edge. lol.
what is pre-molt (sorry for the dumb newb question) she hadnt molted in 4-5 years and just molted on the 29nth of last month. going to remove all crickets today and go from there.

My only advice is be patient, maybe put another pvc tube half buried in substrate (~2" diameter) as additional hide..then she might get away from log?.. Also, I had a stubborn eater, and LOVES giant mealworms... good deal too, ony $3 for 50 count..She ate two in three days..!! Hope this helps :)

Sorry to hear that :( That looked like a really nice T, I suppose it must have been some hidden moult complications or just old age. But 5 years between moults-wow  , she would have already had some years on her when you first got her. The good news is that you cared for her so well that she lasted that much longer. :worship:

i think it was old age. she seemed very restless in her last days... she lived a long good spider life though.;)
