This pretty lady was out and about this morning, so of course I grabbed my camera. Not the best stuff; I must be getting rusty  . But anyway, I have a question: what are some visible signs of premolt in OBTs? She's refusing food, despite the fact that she's not very plump, as you can see.

my obt has molted 3 times in the last 2 months and the only sign i saw was a new molt in his(i'm assuming here due to the growth rate) jar... no visible signs to me.

nice pics though:D

i feed it a lot:D it's one of my favorite pastimes: feeding Ts. i only have 17 right now so i have to pace myself but once i get more i can feed every day and not worry about it:clap: (3 or 4 a day)

my p platyomma is the most fun to feed but the obt is about #4 on the list so he gets a lot for his size;)

I love feeding my animals too, it's interesting seeing them hunt and kill. Speaking of powerfeeding, any idea how long OBTs live? I've read their lifespan is rather short for a tarantula (5 years for an adult female! :?).

i doubt it's quite that short but, what do i know? it could be i suppose...

i'll cross that bridge when i come to it since i don't think the T cares how long it lives as long as it gets to eat regularly and mate.

The T certainly doesn't, but don't you? Lol. I would certainly want my Ts to live as long as they can, though I do still feed a little more than most caresheets suggest. 5 years is meagre for a female tarantula. I really hope it's not the case.

as do i but i'm not too emotionally attached to my Ts. if one died prematurely i would be heartbroken but if it died after attaining it's full size and making little ones to carry on after it i would be fine with it(plus obts are much easier to get a hold of here...;) )

Yeah, they're very affordable, aren't they. I guess I get too sentimental with my invert pets lol.

i get real sentimental about my dogs- i cried like a baby when i lost my pup to a car accident last year but i can't get too broken up about something that wants to eat me:D
