so my MM OBT and MF OBT have been drumming back and fourth since sunday, and the male has been "wandering" so i decided to introduce them last night.

the female was immediately receptive, drumming and following the male around her deli cup, she did bolt out of her webbing after he snuck up on her which scared the @$#% out of him but he found her again and did the deed. i was able to see a successful insertion. unfortunately the pics of the insertion are absolutely horrible..but you get the idea.

introducing the male

sneaking up on the female

she bolted out and he ran

he finds her again

he drums on her furrow

he inserts

i really wish the pics would have come out better..but i guess they'll do for now.

Look at that fatty! She looks like she is carrying eggs already. I bet it is less then a month before you get an egg sac from that gal.

If you have a small flashlight around the next time she is on the side of the container shine the light on her abdomen. It is very easy to see eggs growing inside the abdomen of an obt. You should see something like this, all that yellow was the eggs inside of her. They get easier and easier to see the farther along in the process she gets.

oh wow, that awesome. i'll definitely try that.

how long would it take to start seeing anything like that? her web den is right on the side of the container and she's usually always pressed up against the side.

I have had this species drop a sac 20 days after mating. Good Luck.

You might be able to see something now and if not just check again every once and a while.
