so i have a strong isopod colony going in my green anole tank. im probably on at least the 10th or 12th generation. ive no idea on how fast they become mature, but there have been bajillions of tiny isopods in my tank for months and months.

ive seen them eating the anole poop. i want to add isopods to my other tanks. BUT!!! since they are eating the anole poop im pretty sure they must be picking some anole type parasite/fauna.

its probably unwise of me to distribute them to tanks with other reptiles. but its prettey difficult for me to find isopods here outside. what do you guys think? safe or stupid? i think probably stupid, but im just curious to hear some other opinions.

If they've been in your tank for months and months you're likely on your first generation. If there are tons of young at different stages from the original parents it's still a single generation.

well i started with just maybe 10, and now there are thousands. all sizes. certainly more than 10 adults. but maybe im only on my second generation.

how long does it take them to mature?

but really that is not the question in the OP. i want to know if you guys think i can transfer reptile parasites between cages by transferring isopods between cages.

some parasites can survive in an invertabrate host yes, so when transfering things between cages one should always be cautious.

Why not take out a hefty portion and set them up in their own tank? Let them breed for a bit and then use the isopods that come from that?

seems like it might work. does any body else have an opinion on this?
