I'm recounting on some weird lil arachnid I found in my backyard a few years ago in Rhode Island. It was this arachnid bout the size of a deer tick nymph, maybe a lil bit bigger. Only it wasn't a tick. It had pincers like a scorpion but no tail, and I found a bunch of em under a piece of wood. Any ideas what they were? I haven't seen them since.

Pseudoscorpion. Could have been from one of four families: Cheliferidae, Chernetidae, Chthonidae, or Neobisiidae. About as close to an ID as you'll get without further description. Interestingly, they have no tail, but the pedipalps have venom glands.

I'll try and find some more when the weather becomes decent. Not much out and about in this frigid hell we call winter. with any luck I'll be able to get pics and collect a few specimens
