I fed my T. blondi her usual fuzzy mouse last night. Went to take out the leftovers and there was nothing. I didnt think they usually ate them all gone. There was no rotten smell or anything.

There was a major upset in her t world last week so she missed a feeding. Hubby was getting the container out for me, hit his head HARD and dropped 5 of my Ts They are all fine PHEW But I figured it was safer to delay their feeding from the stress.

So is it normal for them to eat it all? Ive always found a smelly ball of cack to a cack ball with a tail, but never nothing.....

Hello!

i sometimes don't find boluses (boli? ;) ) either. I think its either a pretty full eat and the rest just end up being small bits mixing in with the substrate...

no worries though!

easier cleanup though :)

but double check to be sure..i dont want to read a "MY BLONDI HAS MITES" post from you in the future ;)

peace

Poke around - it may have webbed it over with the substrate or dropped it in a water dish (may blend in if the dish is dirty). Or, just wait a day or two for the extreme funk to radiate out of the cage.

Well usually that funk smell is apparent as soon as I open the lid. How can a lil ball of what used to be a baby mouse smell like a dead elephant?? Anywhoo I will keep digging, I did pry around. Even coaxed her around with forceps, no hair kicking, she must be to full to be sassy and nothing. But I will look again.

And Dave I want to be the LAST person to start a mite thread. :D

thanks guys

My A. seemani is a clean freak! I usually feed until he no longer accepts the crix which is usually about 4-5 crix that he'll roll up into one big cricket burrito. Every morning after feeding, I find the bolus in a the front left corner of the cage as if he is aware that I'll come along and take it out.

Heh, talk about taking out the garbage!

As for my others, the G. rosea almost never leaves a bolus after a meal... however, my A. avicularia leaves messes all over the place.

Though they don't normally consume all of the prey, they are quite capable... I'd presume that this behavior could vary from feeding to feeding, especially when the T requires additional protein and/or calcium fortification in its diet.

My T blondi used to be able to eat entire frogs in one sitting. My rosie and my L parahybana can both polish off an entire adult mouse. As well, lizards are easily devoured in full as well.

I fed one of my G. roseas a pinkie mouse a few weeks ago. I also never found a bolus. After digging around and still not finding one, I ended up removing the whole top layer of substrate and replacing it. There was no funky smell either.

I fed my seemani 2 pinky mice two days ago and there wasn't a crumb left. She's a clean plater.
