Well last night I mated one of my female roseas. Everything went well and I'm pretty sure he inserted. A couple days prior to this she laid down some webbing. Then this morning there was a bit more webbing and she was staying on it, I figured it was a result of her good time. All day she didn't move, and I went out around 8pm and came back at 12am to find she had made a molt mat and was on her back molting. It looks like she just started, like she had only just flipped over because I can't see her new self coming out, and I watched for 40 min and she didn't even move.

Hopefully my other MF will fatten up a little more and stop running away from my boy and give me a sac.

I surely hope so. I'm not even certian that the webbing the male made was a sperm web. But I've read if he's not loaded, he wont perform is this true? I was planning on attempting another pairing tonight, but I got home and found her on her back. So since the second female is on the skinny side, I just tossed her another cricket since she ate the one I gave her earlier. And her cage is right near the other females and me not wanting to disturb her molting I decided to wait.

I hope all goes well. This is my first molt. It's been an hour since I left her to herself, I'm going to check on her now.

Oh! Very exciting that it's your first molt!! Congrats... it must be your first breeding too then right?

also- not sure about the 'him not performing' if he isn't ready thing... hopefully you'll get a more informed response..

I've been through many molts with my various Ts but am new-newbie to breeding..

Well I checked in on her at 2am and nothing has changed, How long you think this will go on for? I haven't gotten out a ruler and measured her, since she's never wanted to climb on my hand, but she's gotta be 5-5.5+ inches now.

4:30 am I woke up and wanted to see my girl so I went in to check on her and still no change. I'm starting to get a bit worried now, would be a little more reassuring if she would move even just a leg.

I wouldn't worry... some of my big girls have taken hours and hours to molt. Sometimes they will lay there seemingly motionless. I am sure she will pop her top before too long. You know girls... they like to take their time.. ;)

Thank you that was very reassuring to wake up to. I just poped in here to check before I went to check on her before work, and she was mostly out of her molt. She just had to get her big ol' booty out. I could see her legs wiggling, went out the room for 20 min and came back before I had to leave for work, and she was out and flipped back over. I removed her molt, I want to keep it, since it's my first and let her be. She is still sitting on her mat though. I'm so proud of her. I also got some pics of her on her back, that are on the cell since I couldn't find the camera, and a few more from this AM. I'll try and get them up tonight.

Congrats on your first molt. My first molt was a rosea too. What a thrill to watch the first one.

Are you going to mate her again? I did mate my girl last year and with the speed of typical roses she is just hangin' out. When I found out she might drop a sac with 1,000 babies I started telling her, "Well, let's think about this some more...." LOL

Good luck!

I'm still working on getting pics up, Takes me awhile sometimes. I do plan on mating her again, Just gotta give her a couple weeks to harden up and then get a few meals in her first.

The first couple days, I didn't see her move, but when I looked in on her she was sitting differently, even thought she was dead twice because of the way she looked, but a tap on her enclosure, and she moved a bit. It looked like she wasn't strong enough to lift her big ol' butt up. But today she seems much better and is holding her butt up a bit.

Yeah, sometimes they sit with their legs scrunched up like they are in a death curl almost. Glad she seems to be doing well.

Well tonight when I got home, she was finally using her hide for the first time, she hasn't moved off her molt mat very much since she molted. Also I keep forgetting to mention, I measured the ls of her molt and it was 5.5".

She sure is, she dwarfs my other female. Also what's weird about my other female is that she runs from my MM. I've been trying to pair them up and they usually walk away from each other, but today when I tried, he was going after her, but she was walking away, after a few min he gave up and walked away.
