I just found out about this wolf preserve a couple of days ago. Drive by that area a couple of times a year and never knew about it. The only wolf preserve east of the Mississippi.

I need to go there.

Manitoba has some wolves, and I have the contact info for someone that is currently tracking and tagging them, and accepts volunteers to help.

I should really try to make that happen, wolves are one of my favorite animals, and I've been taken with them for about as long as I can remember.

I think I remember a wolf project on an island off of North Carolina... was at least ten years ago. Not recalling any details now...

I would love to visit the one in NJ, probably only about 2 hours away from me.

Thanks for letting us know!

Yep, there is one in NC. It's at the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge but the wolves have expanded their range to the Emily & Richardson Preyer Buckridge Reserve. Red wolves are federally endangered but the population is recovering. Never got a chance to go up to ARNWR when I lived in NC. Kicking myself over that now.

Cool link Thoth. That sounds like a great place to visit. The guided photography session would be a lot of fun.

The difference between the wolf preserve in NJ and NC is the one in NJ contains gray and tundra wolves and the one in NC are red wolves.
