It was really really hard to capture the real colours of this t... beleive it or not it has bright red/orange setae all over it. The bottom picture is a close up i took without flash hoping to catch the colour of the hair on camera but it still never caught the setae colour

Possibly a phlogiellus sp.

Hi Kyle,
You know I'm really falling for these too ;) Here's an adult female with the red setae visible, and the distinct purpleblack hue that makes these guys really, mmmmm, nice :) I'd almost go so far as to say these are one of the nicest T's in the entire S.E. Asian region.......

This species is of such importance and is so interesting, for a start they are endemic to one mountain, this particular mountain stands by itself and is isolated from other ranges by hundreds of km's. As a result there are several other animal species endemic to the mountain as well. The isolation for thousands of years has played a defintite part in the evolution of this species, it is so different to those geographically close to it that it stands out as really something special. Behaviouraly they are notably different, the unique mating hold of this species is like nothing else in Australia. Aside from the obvious good looks of this really chunky species there is so much of interest around these....

A mature male:

And a juvenile female:
