E. murinus are awesome. Is it a sling? When we first got ours (she was a .5" sling), she was a nutjob until she established a burrow (which was about 2ish weeks after we got her). Mackenzie threw in a cricket one day before she had set up her burrow and she jumped out of her enclosure and started running across our bedroom floor. But once she had a burrow going, she become a voracious eater and she's been growing rather quickly.

Have fun with yours..I want about a billion more, haha.

They are just grogeous, I agree. I've really started wanting to get into burrowers, I'll always be an arboreal girl, but I like having a variety. Ephebopus in general has really started to draw me in.

I've had my eyes on the female that T. inc has for sale. I just need to convince my parents I NEED another spider

Yeah that's not a bad caresheet. I don't find ours to be all that defensive. More skittish than anything. Our E. cyanognathus on the other hand is the definition of defensive. It may change with size, but so far with our murinus, she's more likely to run than anything.

Also, as far as the humidity goes, since they burrow pretty extensively, you don't need to worry about ambient humidity so much. It'll get the humidity it needs from it's burrow. They remind me a lot of Chilobrachys sp. actually.

Also, they start getting those sweet yellow leg markings at around 1" so you don't have to wait long until it will start showing it's adult colors.

Just a little tidbit of info: when it comes to rehousing, flooding doesn't work. We tried flooding the burrows of our C. darlingi and it worked so beautifully that we tried it with our E. murinus when we rehoused her a few weeks ago. As we poured the water down one hole of her burrow (she had two holes at the top that were connected under the sub), she just stayed in the water, so we had to rush to get all the sub out so she didn't drown.

You could tell your parents that you want to get a specimen of each NW species without the typical urticating hairs. For research purposes, of course.

Avics don't kick their hairs, they need to rub up against you (or something else), Taps don't have urticating hairs, and Ephebopus have their hairs on their palps. And since you already have specimens from both Avicularia and Tapinauchenius...all that's left is Ephebopus ;)

Acctually I've considered just waiting until -its sad to say...but- Bullet passes on. He's old, and even though he finally ate I know he won't be around for much longer.

I would but I like to talk about my bugs, my big mouth would get me busted. {D

Yeah it sucks, and i know I'm going to cry when it happens, but I've accepted he won't live forever and that it probably won't be long from now that he goes, he's almost (if not past) 7 months mature.

I shouldn't be buying anything anyways, I'm trying to save up for when I move to florida this summer. all I have saved is like....$200 :8o I have a pretty good job, but I'm only part time, so I get less then 20hrs, and no ones commissioned for art in awhile.
