I almost bow down before you for not saying 'Freshly' molted. I will never understand these word/expression-bandwagons, I mean, when did pride over creativity launch itself out the attic-window of that five-storey building?

A bit more on track: Nice critters! Especially the spinifer and the coloratovillosus.

wouldn't you say conciously staying off a bandwagon is essentially the same as riding one? :}

SMellyofcheese: Because it doesn't appear very accurate, but it does appear like something you've been trying to repeat over and over 100 times already, i.e horrible mush.

xxgraphcorex: No, why would it be?

one bandwagon is the people who think its cool to use random words to describe something.

the other is people who think its not cool.

based on the fact you would bow down to someone for not using the term, and you've included a little bit in your signature, it would seem it is a highly concerning issue to you.

then there is the rest of us who don't put much importance on it.

personally, i don't think much of it. and now that i do...freshly molted makes perfect sense. after a while the t starts to look tattered and worn...then it molts and has a nice new(fresh) looking exuvium. its pretty simple..and i'm sure you understand where people got the idea to describe a recently molted spider as fresh. also, in reference to your sig., when people say it, they mean it from their own perspective. i'm sure the t is not feeling its best by a long shot. :D

what about people calling them ts? that one gets used way more than freshly molted ;P

I think most people who aren't on a bandwagon have simply considered a bit more than the vast majority of people on it.'

I get annoyed by what I see as 'abuse' of certain words. 'T' isn't one of them, probably because it's short, doesn't have a whole lot of potential competition, and is not idiotic :p

'Fresh' simply implies something positive; is annoying because it appears to solidify the view that tarantulas are pieces of decoration, and why can't tarantulas look like this all the time, seems frustratingly inexact, plus- it has a whole lot of potential competition. A bowl of fruit-salad could say 'freshly molted'. Phrases do become old - I'm just the canary.
