trekked across the state this weekend for the annual Montana Newspaper Association Press Convention, was a good 8 hour drive even with Darla's and my lead feet. big darn state we found some critters "we" decided we couldnt pass up. still no creepy crawlies, only saw a Grammostola rosea but wasnt to interested in it. ive got several of 2 Centruroides species coming in the near future though

first, ive been wanting to set up a saltwater tank since we bought the new house but its not going to happen for awhile and ive been trying to find a cheaper alternitive to entertain me. was thinking of a cichlid tank until i saw these guys(please excuse the so-so pics, im taking pics throught plastic with a point and shoot camera that doesnt alway focus on what i want)

next, our lone female sugar glider has been really tweaking out lately. chewing on her tail and such. when Lil' Boy died about 2 years ago she was doing better than ever, for some reason she seemed to be very anti social, unusual for sugar gliders. well while looking for female bettas to go with the males pictured above, we stopped at a small petshop run by a young couple and Darla discovered that they were selling their "retired" breeding pair to make room for a new unrelated pair. they arent terribly old maybe 5(SG's can live to see 15 easily). anyways thee pair was less than what they were asking for a single hand raised youngin and Darla bought them up. thinking they may do Lil' Girl some good. they are currently sitting in a 10 gal tank next to lil girls cage. i heard them chatting back and forth last night so hopefully they will get along. prolly start suppervised visits the end of the week. here are pics, not the best cause of shooting through glass plus they are nocturnal and not active till later in the evening

What type of bettas are those, I know they can sometimes be rare in petstores (especially if they are all black)

they are called "crowntails" just petstore quality they were a few dollars more than the regulars. some pics ive seen online of show fish look outstanding but i think i like the look of the slightly smaller finnage of the pet store ones. looks more natural to my eye and i like it better.

Crowntails, that what they are, I couldnt remember the name. Petstores here rarely have them, but once I actually saw a black crowntail, magnificent I tell you!

Good luck with the introductions! I don't know too much about sugar gliders, but they sure are cute! Congrats!

I love the sugar gliders. My boyfriend an di wanted some when we moved in a house. We currently live in an apartment so the room is minimal. Hopefully your Lil'girl will adopt those two as her friends or parents !! Great purchse and good luck !

Nice animals you got there. Yup those are some nice crowntails you got there. I have been trying get some nice bettas for a while now. You said you like the shorter finned fish... Google "plakat betta". These are what bettas are supposed to look like (in the wild they are all short finned). I see some nice ones on Aquabid.com but am iffy about buying from overseas.
