Newborn Mantis Escape?

I'm thinking of picking up a chinese mantid egg case from the garden centre in a couple days, and I have a question. I plan to feed them by sticking a bannana peel in thier 2.5 gallon tank and letting the wild fruit flies swarm in. My local petshop is selling screen lids for 2.5 gallon tanks, similar to this.

The screen is fairly coarse and thick, so I'm sure the fruit flies could enter without problems. My question is, could the newborn mantids make thier way out of their tank though those same holes?

Probably, but those Zilla critter cages with the slide open tops should be good. The holes on those things are about 1/4 as big as regular screen tops. fruit flys can still get in, though.
