Newbie with some pics...

Hello. New guy here. I've always been fascinated with spiders.
I look forward to sharing experiences with you all.

In my spare time I like to take pictures of spiders around the house. Here are a few. Hope you enjoy. I live in the Pacific Northwest (USA); we have many different kinds of spiders here, including black widows, which are rare to see, but I hope to get a picture some day.

In the meantime...

P.S. I'm trying to upload a 30 second video of a cool battle between a spider and bee (from the pic shown above). When I do, I'll share.

I also like watching spiders eat their prey. The hornet in the photo was put there by me. I know; I'm morbid, but it's fun!

I feed spiders on a regular basis; sometimes it's the only way to get a good look at them. This particular creature (the one with the hornet) is not afraid of anything! I was holding the camera really close and making sudden movements (trying to focus) and it completely ignored me. Most spiders are scared more easily.
I think I'll go back and see if I can get some more pics!

Whoa, good call! It is indeed a tegenerian sp. It is freaking huge... one of the biggest of that type that I've ever seen.

Morbid?! Anything but! The second pic seems to be an S. Grossa, I had one of those a few years ago that I fed a BIG yellowjacket. That was one of the most aggressive spiders I ever kept. Yeah. The feeding/watching thing gets addicting. Once in a while if I catch a truly worthless spider, or need to make room for a nicer spider, I'll feed one spider to another. My S. Grossa had a 45 minute battle with a medium sized grey jumping spider on one occasion.
