Can you see the book lungs on the Ts body? My b smithi climbed up the glass of his tank & I ran over to get a few pix. You could see his little fangs really well & I noticed on his belly (sorry) there are 2 small, tan colored "bumps" where my manual shows the booklungs....I never noticed this before.... There also seem to be 2 smaller spots a bit lower down....what is this & is it normal?

I hope this isn't a T manual that is implying they only have 2 booklungs. Ts have 2 pairs of book lungs, a feature which distinguishes the mygalamorph arachnids from other spiders.

So, unless I'm misunderstanding you, what you're seeing is perfectly normal.

thanks

I meant to say it was the area of the booklungs.....I guess I just never got such a good look at his underside before......thanks for reassuring me it is normal.

Here's a ventral view of juvenile smithi

Take a look at where I circled, those are the four book lungs on this juvenile male B. smithi.
