Hey guys I just got one green ameiva and a columbian B&W tegu. Just wanted to let ya all know and if you have any litte pieces of advice for me that would always be welcome:)

A friend of mine told me that B&Ws are not aggressives but they do bite at first until they calm down. I don't know how true/untrue that is

My B&W is pretty tame now I can hold it no problem...the Green ameiva on the other hand is very skittish I cant even catch it:(

On another topic can any one give me a good recipe for substrate for these? I was thinking about sand mixed with coconut husk and mabye some topsoil, what do ya all think?

B&Ws are usually pretty good, except for a short period after brumation (if you brumate them), when they can be a little testy - but even then, they'll usually make it clear that they want to be left alone before they resort to anything nasty.
