new T's good/bad news

Well, since there is a mini heat wave in N. CA(90-105F) and not sure when the heat will let up I thought it best to post pone the order, for a week or two. Thats the bad news, now the good news, my local reptile shop got a couple of B. smithi's in for a reasonable price for the size, just over 1.5" and I couldn't resist, and here it is=D

what do you use for a water dish? that looks shallow yet big enough so they dont run out in a few hour.

I use the exact same water dishes for all My T's. I get them at walmart for about $1. Just make sure you get the ones that are glazed so that the water doesnt soak into the dish. I bought a couple of the ones that werent glazed and the water kept disappearing on me. The good thing about them to as he said that you can get them in all sorts of sizes and they work great.

I'm SOOOOO glad someone mentioned that! I remember following someone's suggestion to get those clay ones and I did buy a few of them. The water kept disappearing and I figured out they really suck. I wondered WHY someone would recommend those!?! Maybe they meant the glazed ones?

Anyway, a cheaper water dish I like to use (especially in the cages of my more aggressive/defensive species), is the cheap plastic ones used to put underneath plants. They are clear, plastic, lightweight....and they only cost around $.19 to $.29 apiece. That way, I can use my long tweezers to take them out since it would be kinda hard to pull out a heavier dish. I also have the old glass ashtrays my father-in-law used to use and various other things I use as water dishes.

I have had problems with even the glazed clay dishes with the water dissapearing so I just started using the plastic ones. I have yet to have a problem and their cheaper. Maybe there is just something I am missing with the glazed clay ones.
