Hey all, im new here to tarantulas and this message board. From what i have seen with this site different from any other site i have been to, it doesnt seem that there is as much argument and everyone seems to get along.
I will definatly frequent this site.
Here are some pics of some of my arachnids that i have started out with.
I have two Brachypelma smithi, Red Knee Tarantula
1- Psalmopoeus irminia Venezualan Sun Tiger Tarantula

Welcome to the boards, and to the addictive hobby. Nice tarantulas you got there, interesting selection to start out with, they are great species if you give them proper care.

I know the sun tiger is not a recommended starter spider, but what do you guys think of the costa rican tiger rump?

The Costa Rican Tiger Rump is a great starter T. They are tough. Not one to handle very often. Can be skittish. Eats like a garbage disposal. Nice bright colors - cool copper carapace. Interesting webbers. Reasonable price.
Welcome to the boards DDFISHMAN. You have some very interesting Ts to start out with. I'm glad you found us. Don't be afraid to post and use the search function here. There is a lot of terrific advice.

Hi everyone. I have 2 rose hairs, a red knee T and 2 pink toes... also 5 scorps and i just had more babies last night! also 4 bearded dragons. I was thinking of getting a tiger rump or a zebra. I am pretty new to this hobby, I know some stuff but not to much where i can consider myself an expert. I love the colbalt blue but I m waiting on that till I know more. I have seen many and handled 1, but i am looking for something colorful and handleable. My chileans I handle every day even if its for a min or two. Rosie is pictured in my avatar. Wiggles is'nt. I wouldnt dare handle my momasita (red knee) she is extremely aggressive. Some one told me she may be a haitian red knee and not a mex. whats the difference? any reccomendations for a new fuzzie pet??

I think you would enjoy the tiger rump over the zebra. I have both, The A. seemanni (zebra) tend to burrow, so I don't see him a whole lot other than through the bottom of the jar, but he is great, was my first T. Got him just over an inch and hes molted twice to just over 2 inches.

The C. fasciatum (tiger rump) is also great. I can see it all the time, and it spends alot of time webbing up the enclosure, but not so thick that you can't see. Eats well, great colours, fairly docile but skittish if disturbed.

For the simple fact that you will see the tiger rump more often, I think that is the better choice.

Very sweet collection

Seems people become addicted very fast in this hobbie, bad ass spiders by the way. I think this forum is one of the best things that has ever happened to this hobbie, and it will continue to provide hobbiest and breeders with the opportunity to breath new life into many species that might have been extinct, with out this site.

P.S. Thanks Dan for hooking me up with that rose hair at tropical fish pond five years ago.
