Hows my set up I think I did pretty good but would love some more information on taking care of these little girls!

The substrate is coco fiber, and bug dirt special bought, and some aspen shaving to top it off

I've been feeding them apple and cat food but about to start giving them some calcium from egg shells

Im also gonna add a couple wood pieces in there for them to climb around on

How often do I water there area?
I do have a heat pad because I live in the basement is 65-68 degrees fine?
Any other information would be good

I have a heat pad to get it to 85 degrees. I spray once a month but my tub gets humid so I don’t really have to spray often. Mine enjoy eating oak leaf litter. I put a handful in and it was gone in two days. Definitely add egg crate or some type of hardwood bark. For my roaches, I just use egg crate pieces. They definitely like to stay hidden. Make sure the lid is on. These do climb a lot. If you do breed them, they need more space.

I've kept them at 70-90 degrees F with success; breeding really takes off once you are above 80 degrees but in general the roaches are more active at warmer temps. A friend of mine sustained losses at temps below 65~ F/ 18~C, yet more than 90% of their roaches survived their cold spell. I shoot for 80-85 degrees F (26-27 C,) but during the winter they "endured" temps down to 70 (briefly) when it was in the negatives outside (during the polar vortex that hit my neck of the woods).

Hissing cockroaches are hardy, esp. "Common Stock/Hobby" Gromphadorhina sp.
