I've been thinking about getting another T and I like the species for begginers. I have a G.rosea and would like a different species. I would like some suggestions. I know I will get a B.Smithi. I just would like some other ideas for a third T too.

P.S. Is a B.smithi a Good beginner species? I've heard it is.

You could go with a pinktoe Avicularia Avicularia though from my experience, boring doesn't even begin to describe them :D In the 4 months I had mine, from juvenile to maturing into a beautiful male (matured 3 weeks ago and is now touring Enland impregnating females) He must of left his nest a maximum of 5 times...

However, they look nice and are a good spider to get you into arboreal tarantulas...

B.Smithi are a little too expensive if you arn't 100% sure you can keep it alive, other than that I'd say they should be oki

when i got mine i fed it pinhead crickets, which are kind of a pain to find... the best thing to do before you get it would be to check out the local reptile/invert shops if there are any around you, and see if they sell pinheads or the flightless fruit fly cultures...

just an idea

Here is a list of some good beginner T's
1. Pink Zebra Beauty
2.Chaco Golden Knee(same species as the Rosehaired)
3.A.Versicolor (they are fast and they are jumpers)
4.A.Avalculia (same as above)
5. b.Smithi
There is more but thats all I can think of

I've heard the A.Avic requires humidity. How do I safely retain humidity while keeping mold away.

Ask code monkey about the humidity thing for sure -- but I believe that increased humidity is NOT necessary. I would think misting the enclosure 1-2 times a week is more than enough.

Get a G.pulchra (Brazillian Black) ,but try to get a larger size one if you can as they grow slow unless you dont mind waiting .
You wont be disappointed with it.

when I have tiny lings I hate messing with tiny pinhead crickets so I just fed the lings the large rear jumping legs from adult crickets until the lings get large enough to eat small crickets.
