Its in a pet store so I am not sure of the sex yet. And its freshly molted so it will be a while till I know for sure. Hope its a female. If it turns out to be a boy I guess I will find someone with a girl that wants to make babies.

Not getting a new spider today. Went in and looked at it again. This time I took it off the shelf where the lighting sucks and carried it to the window. I told the guy I really had doubts it was actually a T. blondie. A different guy was there. He said I think its haition brown or something. But they get just as big.
So I think I'm going to start ordering online from now on. I am so tired of this. He said if you tell us what you want we can order it for you. And I would get what I ordered not.
I'm not going to order T's from a bunch of people that dont know a pinktoe from a rosea. The last time they ordered spiders they ordered a cobalt blue and got a tiger rump. The tiger rump turned out to be a H. longipedum which is not a tiger rump. Anyway, like I said I think I am done with buying spiders there unless they just happen to have one I can id and looks really healthy. Just to frustrateing.

"Haitian brown", common name for Phormictopus cancerides. Don't get as big as a blondi and not near as bulky. Get 8-9" and mean. I have 2 and they are both lightning fast and very defensive. Great display T's as mine rarely hides and will pounce on anything!
If the price is only around $30.00-40.00, i'd get it unless you are holding out for a T.blondi. Can't blame you if you wait though as my blondi is just about my favorite out of my collection! Many of the online dealers should have blondi's and guarantee health & the sex. Good luck finding your new T.

I am ata this point thinking about it but am a bit irratated at the folks at the pet store. Just so tired of going in and they not knowing what they have. Then I come home if I buy one and it ends up being something other than what they said it was.
I know what I want but I also would like to order a T and get what I want and know if its male or female. So I think I will wait and just start ordering from the internet where I am sure to get the correct T. Instead of oh I think its a big brown spider.
I bought a tiger rump last time and got home, started looking and it was not a tiger rump at all. Turned out to be a H. longipedum. Which is a veitnamese tiger. But I didnt see rump in the name . Which is ok I guess, Just want what I want.
I kind of think it comes in labeled. How much work would it be to read the label and put one on the kk they put it in so everyone knows what it is. But I guess thats to easy.
OK, I will stop ranting. Like I said I think from now on I start ordering from breeders that can be sure I am getting what I want. Then I wont have to be getting irratated at people that respond with its a big one when I ask what it is.

Yeah I'm going to go that route. I think Ts should stay out of generic pet stores for everyone's sake. They don't know how to look after them properly (well, most that I've seen).

I dont walk in expecting any one to be an expert on every animal in the store but its just the simple things that take little effort that irratate me the most. Like feeding a spider thats abdomen looks looks like a shrivled grape or water. And takeing a few minutes to label them so every one knows what it is. It's things that are fairly simple.

When you point at say, a tangerine bearded dragon and ask "What's that?" do they say "A lizard"?

Usually I have the employee talk to me like they are an expert as they recite the "same ol speech" while filling in the random tidbits of information from the supposedly accurate sticker system stuck onto the front of the enclouse.

Honestly go in a play dumb and these guys will try to talk up anything.

I have more respect for someone who admits they have no idea what something is or how to care for it, and then recommends a book, or even looks it up for that matter then someone who tries to (edit) me.

And back to topic...T. Blondi, woot! Yeah! :D

I live with my daughter and her husband and they are house hunting at present and planning to buy a house in the next month so I think I'm going to hold off a while on any more T's till we get moved and settled in a little. They are also expecting my 7th grandbaby in aug. :D
I plan to just start buying 3 or 4 online now and then so I think it would be easier to just wait and decide what I really want. T. blondie is for sure on the list and a couple avics I think. I have 2 avics now and I love em. Also have a MF C. huahini I may sell or trade. Other than the T. blondie I have not really made up my mind on any others. There are to many I want.

I tried to play dumb at my LPS yesterday, hoping to pick up a nice B. smithi at a sane price. They want 150 bucks for it.
They also had a 'bird eating tarantula', but it certainly wasn't a blondi. 79.99 for that one. :wall:
I'm fed up with pet stores as well. So I went home and ordered a versicolor sling, 42 bucks shipped. Versus paying 39.99 for a plain old Avic avic at the pet shop. Who needs instant gratification anyway? ;)
Good luck with finding the slings you want online, it's WAY better. What is even better is when you can hit up a show, then you can skip the shipping. I plan to do this in April.

Not sure a show would be good, I would be there for hours. And broke before I left. I'd be like homer simpson after donuts. OH spiders, must....have......spiders.
