To be honest, I wasn't intending on buying another T. But I fell in love with her, and had to take her home. She must be pretty captivating, because I didn't notice she was missing a leg until we got back, and I tried to get a measurement. :8o The upside to this is that I get to witness and document the process of limb regenration firsthand, which is pretty exciting for me.

Even without a leg, she is a real doll!!! She looks ventrally female, but I will get ventral pic when I rehouse her later tonight so I can get further opinions. Although I'm not into terrestrials, this one is so gentle and docile, you cannot help but like it. Also, the coloration of this species is strikingly beautiful!!!

Ain't she adorable??? :p

Really nice! I would take her home too if I saw her, even missing a leg.

Thanks all!!! I'm actually pretty happy with her. Alot of the time, I go on tirades about the LPS and Pet-Trade industry caring more about the $$$ than the animal, and how buying from them propagates yadda-yadda-yadda.....

But sometimes there's just one animal that captures your attention.

Whoops!!!! Got tagged and didn't realize it, LOL

Thanks!!! There is something really special about her, no doubt about that. I'm not into the terrestrials so much, so there has to be something "more" to the spider for a ground-dwelling species to really capture my attention and steal my heart like she has. I'd definately get another of this species, or any other member of the Grammostola genus, as I am also quite fond of my rosie.

So, I've named her Se7en due to her missing appendage....not to be confused with the hottie Borg chick on Star Trek Voyager. She was Seven of Nine.....my litle girl is Se7en of Eight, LOL!!!

Now, for all those who are concerned about the bite of a Grammostola sp., Here is a bit of first-hand experience. I will be posting this up in the Bite Report section as well. During Se7en's initial handling session, I apparently got tagged.....TWICE!!!! She must have fanged me during that initial session, because the itchynes started about an hour afterwords. I didn't even notice the two bite marks until the next day, though the webbing between my right middle and ring fingers was experiencing small bouts of being itchy as hell. I thought she haired me at first, but the sensation was more like a mild bee sting that would come and go. When I saw the bite marks the next day, that's when I put it together that I had been tagged.

So, the point is......
First off, ANY T can and will bite despite ther temperament.
Second, the bite is NOTHING to worry about. I didn't feel it when it happened (2 bites delivered without any indication I had been fanged), and the symptoms were extremely mild. Even the bouts of itchyness were not annoying at all.

Battle Scars:

Between the time I was bitten, and the time I realized it, I had handled my girl three times (once was for the video in this thread), pinch-grabbed her for a ventral shot, and fed her. She has been handled twice since, and without incident. Because of the mild effects of the venom, and the fact that her temperament is really calm, I am not frightened in the least to take another hit from her.
