the ones at reptilia are garbage compared to the one at the last expo! that thing was YELLOW! it was disgusting how yellow it was.. when i asked the guy how much it was he said he wouldn't sell it but it's worth thousands.. and i believe him as i know how badly people want high yellow JCP's.. the damn things are beauty's but quite nippy as neonates, but then again, most snakes are..

actually I was at Reptilia about 6 weeks ago and they had a few carpets. The one that I saw was a juvenille and quite bright in colour. If you're refering to the one on the site than I partly agree with you...its colour is toned down but 'garbage' isn't a word I'd use to describe it. The colour is half the reason I like them...the other half is the shape and scalation of their head.

yea, garbage was the wrong word from what it sounds but garbage in my vocab means not so good... i was at reptilia yesterday with a member from this board (before i came home and posted that post) and the highest yellow JCP they had, which was in that little hall beside the little room next to the lizard room, was no where near as yellow as the one at the expo.. i agree, the one at reptilia is beautiful but the one at the expo looked like it was painted with a highlighter... :D

beauty! really nice lookin man... the one at the expo was so sick it's ILL! i swear man, from that day on, i told myself i'd never ever get a JCP unless it was that yellow.. it spoiled it for me... and i think he said it was in need of a shed, too! i will get one, someday.. for now i'll dream about it..

A jungle carpet worth thousands? Jaguar morph yes but normal high yellow Only in a world far removed from reality. Extremely nice high yellows can be had for 200 to 300ish and even in the land of snow and moose they aren't that high. Anyone that would actually pay several thousand for one other than a jaguar morph is a sucker.

Jaguars are awesome! But yes, Jungles (even extremely nice ones) only cost a couple hundred. Will Leary, one of the most respected Jungle breeders in the US is only charging $500 for his pairs.

There was an ad on kingsnake with some really gorgeous snakes. Jungle/Chondro crosses........talk about breathtaking! I don't believe in hybrids, but if I had the $1200 I may have bought one!

Thanks for all the comments on my new girls......now if only I could get pics that show their true colors. My Jungle is much more yellow than the pics show.

you may be right... but that's what i was told, and he didn't really say thousands.. he did say something like a thousand or a couple thousand... i will ask him again at the next expo coming up if he's there.. keep in mind it was a huge female breeder.. it was like 8 feet long if not more i think. ask orion, he saw it...

Nice IJ Malkavian hopefully i will be picking up another 2 yearlings at the next show we shall see though :) and the guy with thejungle probably said that because it wasnt really for sale so he attached an exaggerated figure to it i dont think he would really expect thousands for it i have seen some from Jeff Favelle that equally bright coloration and are still only a couple hundred bucks.

Working on a breeding project?

I'm thinking of trying to get rid of my female in favor of a less tempermental one (that and the fact that they're related) Last year she gave me eggs (not this year) but i didnt get to them in time and they dried out too much to be viable

Yeah man breeding project it is for me my female currently is super docile and feeds like a champ, so i cant ask for much more with her she is around 6 ft long. i eventually want to get a Granite IJ breeder and start that up.

BAh! Lucky you....my female treats anythign warm as a potential meal...so far i've been unable to break her of the habit..partly that i dont handle her enough (because i dont like to without a "spotter" to help me unwind her off something if i need to)

Both of mine feed very well though. In fact my cue to pre-shed or (or pre-lay as it was last year) is that the female stops taking food..otherwise she never skips a meal

Jeff's Jungles are incredible! I drool over his snakes on a regular basis :) If I were in Canada I'd definitely be picking up a pair from him. And he's had a TON of Jungle's hatch out this year.

:EDIT: I just looked it up.....Jeff has had 116 Jungles hatch this year.
