I've been way busy this summer and have just recently had time to get some pictures uploaded. I got several new slings this summer, bringing me up to 11 Ts total! So here are some pictures of all my slings:
Updates:
My a. versicolors have all molted and are doing great! They are eating well (mostly frozen pinheads, but also the occasional fruit fly - its been great watching them hunt!). They are also webbing up like crazy! Here are some pictures:
Lotsa webbing:
The only one who isn't hiding in its web 99% of the time:
My little L. parahybana sling has molted twice and is digging up its cage like crazy! I'm so glad this little one arrived with my versicolors as a freebie - I might not have chosen it on my own but I'm really enjoying it! Here's a couple pictures of it:
And the parahybana with a quarter to show size - it was only about 1/3" a couple months ago when it arrived - its now a bit over 1"!!!
The new ones!
I got a little B. smithi and a little B. Bohemi from kenthebugguy this summer. They have both molted and are eating great!
The bohemi, eating a 'small' cricket:
The bohemi with a quarter to show size - it was just about 3/4 of an inch when I got it, its now just under 1":
The little smithi:
The little smithi with a quarter - it was just about 1/2" when I got it and is now, in 1 molt, just about (or slightly more than) 1". If rate of growth at this age is an indicator, it may be a male. Either way, its a spunky little guy who buried its hide in the substrate and sits on top of it instead...
The newest slings:
My friend who introduced me to the hobby when she put her little subadult T in my hands just about a year ago knew someone who had some slings. He was giving her a couple and she put me in touch with him. I bought 4 slings from him, 3 little B. vagans, and a 9 month old G. Aureostriata. The vagans are TINY, but all 4 slings have been eating well. Just a fyi - The substrate in some of the vagans cups looks alot wetter in pictures than it really is.
Vagans A:
Vagans A with a quarter. All 3 of them are this tiny. But they have some fierce hunting instincts already and hop on the frozen pinheads (or drops of water) quickly.
Vagans B:
Vagans C sitting on a pinhead:
Aureostriata:
Aureostriata with a quarter. It apparently hatched in December of '07. Slow growers...just under 1" in 9 months:
So thats all the new slings. My rosie has mostly decided she's staying in her hide at this point. She's still been eating for the most part (though she's slowed down a bit), and still looks pretty pink under her hair when I get to see her abdomen, so no molt in the near future...can't wait until she does and all that hair loss on her butt from being at a petstore can fill back in!
